Humor & Funny Videos can help to sell your ebook!

A study by Sharpe Partners, an interactive marketing agency, revealed that 89% of adult Internet users in America share content with others via e-mail. This is excellent news for those companies who use self-propelling word-of-mouse” e-mail techniques to sell their products.

The study generated some interesting results regarding the type of content that is most often forwarded, as well. The most popular content is humorous material.

The second most popular category is news, followed by healthcare and medical information, religious and spiritual material, games, business and personal finance information and sports/hobbies… in that order. So it is easy to see that humor is the best content for your viral e-mail campaign.

Cartoons, jokes and funny video clips are among the things that can be added to an e-mail to insure that it will go viral. People will want to pass along something that makes them laugh.

They are a lot more likely to hit the forward button and send your email to their friends and relatives if it is an “advertainment” rather than an advertisement.

Not along ago, about 35 million people got an e-mail containing a picture taken in Disneyland. It took a minute to see it but there was Donald Duck lying prone in front of the famous Cinderella Castle. The title of the picture was “Bird Flu has hit Disneyland”. It was a viral e-mail advertising Disneyland and used the edgy strategy of making light of what’s serious… and it works.

I’d guess that most people who own a computer have seen that picture… and thus the advertisement for Disneyland. The bird flu epidemic is newsworthy and has the potential to attract an enormous amount of attention to any brand that might, for whatever reason, associate itself with it.

Remember that people are much more likely to share a joke or a funny picture than anything else so you would be well advised to include humor in your e-mail campaign.

The Keynote: a Humorous Interlude

Gihan Perera asked:

Let me tell you a true story …

I was walking along the beach one day, feeling lucky. My life was good. I had all my ducks lined up in a row. Whatever I had believed, I had conceived and achieved. And when the going had been tough, I’d got going.

As I walked, I saw a starfish lying in the sand. I picked it up and asked him, “What are you doing?” He replied, “I’m building a cathedral.” But he clearly wasn’t. So I threw him into the ocean.

Suddenly I felt a force in my back, and I was thrown face first into the sand. I turned to see a group of monkeys aiming a large hose of jet-cold water at me.

“What did you do that for?” I yelled. They stopped, and looked at each other, puzzled. “Err, there’s no ‘I’ in team,” one said haltingly, and then added, “Although, now that I think of it, there are two in ’schizophrenia’.”

“Ummm … We were just shifting your paradigm”, said another.

“No, no”, said a third. “We moved your cheese.”

I just stared at them, until eventually one of them muttered, “Nobody ever asked us that before”, and they skulked away.

I turned away in disgust and looked out to the ocean. Suddenly, to my horror, I saw a battleship heading towards the beach, and – what’s more – right into the path of my starfish.

I cupped my hands to my mouth and yelled across the water, “Turn 10 degrees to port – now!” In reply, their loudhailer boomed back at me, “No, YOU turn 10 degrees to starboard – now!”

They were in trouble – BIG trouble. But I had a positive attitude, which was contagious – and I hoped it was worth catching by the men on that ship. I called back again, “I’m warning you – turn 10 degrees to port – NOW!” But the reply came back, even louder, “And I’m warning YOU – turn 10 degrees to starboard!”

What could I do? They were heading straight for shore. “Stop! Danger!” I yelled. But the reply came back, “I stop for nobody. I’m a battleship.”

Quickly, I thought outside the nine dots and yelled back, “I’m a lighthouse”. Unfortunately, it was daytime, and they could see I obviously wasn’t. So they ignored my warnings and headed straight for the shore.

I knew I had to lead, follow or get out of the way. I got out of the way. Unfortunately, the starfish wasn’t so lucky.

I tell you this story not to sadden you – because the sun is always shining even when you can’t see it – but to inspire you.

Nor to apologise – because love means never having to say you’re sorry – but to theorise.

And not to point a finger at the commander of that battleship – because whenever I do, there are two fingers pointing back at me (there used to be three, but I lost one in a freak accident when I lost concentration while sharpening an axe for six hours) – but to point YOU in a new direction.

You see, that was in the past, and the past is just a memory. All we have is the gift of now – that’s why we call it the “present” (Ummm … and the gift of tomorrow, I suppose – that’s why we call it, err, the future. But that’s another story).

I felt bad at the time, but it WAS in my past. Looking back now, I realise it didn’t make a difference to me. But it did to that starfish.

How to Create Free Viral Traffic

Richard Andrews asked:

To find success with your internet marketing business there is one thing that you absolutely must have – traffic, as much as possible.

There are many ways to get traffic to your web site or affiliate program. One of the best ways to generate traffic (and highly targeted traffic at that) is also extremely cost effective. In fact, after a single one-off cost for appropriate software, the cost to you is practically zero.

I have always been drawn towards achieving any given target at as low a cost as possible provided I get the results I am seeking. To me it doesn’t make sense to pay $100 for a product if I can get it for a fraction of that. I have built my own internet marketing business primarily using free or low cost traffic generation methods.

This article will show you how to generate a constant and increasing flow of traffic to your web site or affiliate program without spending a fortune.

Viral Traffic

There are many thousands of surfers searching for free stuff online: Google is currently returning 2.9 million results for the search term “free ebooks”, and 3.1 million results for “free reports”, so you can see that there is massive demand.

To take advantage of this demand, create your own free report. The creation and distribution of your free report will build your traffic slowly at first and gradually build up momentum, but what I’m talking about here is free traffic here, so you have nothing to lose. To create your report, follow these simple steps:

Choose a “hot” topic

Visit any online marketing forum and you’ll quickly see what people are looking for in your niche – often information (how to do this, that etc.).

Write your report on what’s in demand to give your report the widest possible audience. If you’re really stuck or suffering from “writer’s block” you may well have reports or ebooks that you have downloaded gathering dust on your hard disk and you can use these for inspiration. Don’t copy other writer’s work – this can get you into a lot of trouble with copyright. Instead, rewrite them in your own words.

Within your free report, include hyperlinks back to your website (typically on the title page and at the end of the report) and/or affiliate links or products (within the text of the report, and ideally at the end of the report (links to related products or resources for example).

Give your report a title to attract interest

To ensure that your report gets noticed don’t use a title like “Marketing Basics”. A much better title would be something like “Secrets of 200% More Traffic – How To Instantly Get Twice As Much Traffic For Your Site”.

Compile your report into pdf format

The most widely used format for document distribution on the internet is pdf’s and will give your report the widest possible audience. There are many programs available that will create a pdf from a word processor file, and these days you should be able to get a good one for less than $20.

Promote your report

Obviously, the first place you want to advertise your report is on your own web site (if you have one).

However, to get the best results (viral traffic), summarise your report into an article and submit the article to one or more of the free article directories. In the article’s resource box you would include something like “Like this article? Get the FULL – free – report from [yoursite] by clicking here” (hyperlink to your report’s download page).

Result – free viral, targeted traffic!

Your article stays on the article directory producing more and more traffic back to your site and your report.

As article directories are free resources your article may well be picked up by others and spread around the internet, getting even more exposure – true “viral” traffic that operates automatically for you.

Search engines will also identify the link back to your web site which will increase your site’s ranking.

Apply these tips and watch as your hit counts grow.

Finding the Free Content You Need Just Got a Lot Easier

Robert asked:

Webmasters and web developers may be geniuses in their own rights, but one could not expect that they should do all the work for themselves. Well, actually, they can, if they do have a lot of time on their hands. One of the most problematic areas that the web masters and web developers usually encounter is finding the necessary textual and graphic resources to complete a page. Needless to say, there are usually a number of web pages needed for just one website.

Of course, the webmaster could always ask someone else to do the researching and writing on their own, but that would mean paying for the work done. Although this may usually mean a professionally done service, it also means that you have to give the pro some time leeway to complete the project. Also, the web developer can even spend lots of time developing his or her own animations, backgrounds and .gif images. However, this may take a lot longer than anyone would expect. If you, as a webmaster, would rather go for free stuff, there are now article database search engines and web tools that can make web development go faster.

Why go for the free stuff?

In the rapidly evolving business sector of the World Wide Web, any delay in web site development equates to delay of revenues. Assuredly enough, there are now more Internet users logging on as micro-entrepreneurs than personal page makers. Stagnant personal pages are almost passé. The trend these days is to make sure that your personal website actually generates money for your bank account.

Fortunately, finding free web page content just got easier. For many first time developers, the need for more specialized education in HTML is no longer, well… needed. There are now ways and means to maximize a page using the most basic surfing skills with ready resources on the web. Even some of the more complicated techniques being offered now usually come with a step-by-step / idiot-proof instructional material to make sure installation goes as fast as possible.

This is primarily the reason why many professional and amateur webmasters prefer to find free articles on article database instead. For one thing, most of the articles in those said databases are already primed for action – edited, and spruced with the required amount of keywords. Additionally, these databases are also great locales to find free articles from notable authors of their respective niches. Authored articles carry much more weight in topic justification than non-authored ones.

So instead of having to deal with, say, the writing of various health articles for your health & beauty website, you could simply find free articles over the databases. Not only can you get these free from charge, but you could even pick and choose the ones you think will enhance your pages better.

So how do you find these said free article database?

It’s actually as easy as going to any search engine bar, and typing in “free web content.” The list of websites offered in the results page carry everything from textual contents to buttons, to images and even downloadable videos. Nothing comes easier than that.

Internet Marketing on a Shoestring – Well not Even a Shoestring Free!

Brian Binns asked:

New people to Internet marketing tend to jump in head first with out feeling the water first, by this I mean they will go spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on ebooks and courses not knowing that if they checked out just a few simple things, they would have saved a whole load of money.

Another “off the cuff” purchase they will make is buying a domain name and web hosting. They apply for the domain name without even thinking about it & once they have chosen the domain name and it has been accepted it is too late to change it!

Their next shock is when they are presented with their cPanel their control over all their websites because they have never used one before; they are absolutely clueless as to what to do! What do they do next? They buy more ebooks on “how to” use cPanel and build web sites! Yes more money spent and wasted!

My advice for every new budding webmaster is check around the internet for the best deals first before making your purchase, find out if they offer tutorials and have a good help section, how much space will you get?, how many email accounts can you set up?.

Wouldn’t it be just cool if you could set up a domain name and hosting absolutely free! That way you could practice with all the controls, mess about with it never worrying that something drastic might happen to your web site.

I did a lot of searching to find out if it was possible to get one of these free accounts, after a lot of dead ends I eventually found a company that allowed you to have your own domain name complete with hosting & your own cPanel absolutely free!

At first I could not believe it, so I went ahead and signed up for an account, not at any time during the set up process was I asked for any money what so ever!

After set up I was emailed all my details just like you would get if you had paid for one, still a bit sceptical I logged onto my control panel and boy was I surprised! It was better than my main “paid for” control panel, and every thing was there! I was amazed to find that even video tutorials are made available to show you step by step what to do.

It is a perfect working package and it had not cost me one cent to get it!

This persuaded me to write an ebook about it, where to go how to sign up and complete your order process also including other sites where you can get free internet marketing tools like getting hits for your new web site and who to use all this to earn real money promoting other sites on YOUR own web site. I considered charging a few dollars for this eBook but I though “what the heck!” It is about getting stuff for free, some surely the eBook should be free too! So I have decided to give it away to all who want it, without any catches.

If you want this eBook you can get it by clicking HERE but please do let me know what you think about your free domain and hosting package and please send me a link to your first website, I would love to see and comment on it.

I feel really good now, knowing that I am giving out free information to people, so good that I am going to start looking for other free stuff, so watch this space!

Don’t forget you can get my free ebook HERE.

Enjoy and Goodbye for now

Brian

P.S I have a site “The Academy of Information” stocked with lots of affordable ebooks please take look HERE

Internet Marketing Tips – How Giving Away Free Stuff Can Earn You a Telephone-Digit Income

Fabian Tan asked:

If you thought Internet marketing was getting easier, then you need to think again! The truth is that it’s getting more competitive by the day out there in the Internet business scene. These days, you have to give out free stuff if you want to stay relevant and profitable in your market place.

The first step is to see what free samples you can give away. For instance, if you’re selling an ebook, you may consider giving away a free chapter to prospects on your sales page. This is a proven tactic to increase sales. Or if you’re selling a video course, you can give away one video for free to people who subscribe to your list.

The next step is to consider giving away a supplementary free report. This report is related to your main product and contains tidbits of valuable information that your readers can chew into. You can use this report to build your list and then follow-up with them about your main product. Your goal with this report is to give as much free information as possible to persuade prospects to buy your product. To give away the report, you will need to get a website, convert your document into a PDF and get a quality autoresponder service such as Aweber or Auto Response Plus.

The main idea is to use your free gift to build a list of prospects which you can send messages to via email. You can then pre-sell them on your product, or send them more valuable information that will push them to buy your product.
